Pop-up Rig

These are the materials you'll need to make a Pop-up rig.

As you can see i'm using a soft braid, but you can use a coated one. just strip off the last part of the braid...

First make a simple loop and put a knot in it...

Afterwards thread the end tackle through the back of the eye of the hook. That way the loop lies on top of the hookbend...

Now take the hook with the loop between thumb and indexfinger and start to turn the other end of the endtackle 5 times arround the hook, moving away from the eye ( You'll see that the eye is bent in a sertain way. make shure to start your turn in the bend of the eye and not the other way around. This way you'll prevent cutting in to your end tackle)

Now thread the end tackle through the back of the eye again. Moisten with seliva and start pulling it tight.

You've just made a no-knot knot...

Make three knots divided over the braid.

The knots will help later on when we put the putty on...

Now attach the swivel (see Standard Rig )

Cut off the ends so you have a nice presentation and knead the putty over the knots.

Tip: Keep the putty in your pocket, the bodyheat will keep it pliable...

Now all you have to do is to put on the Pop-up boilie.

Check your rig in a bucket of water!!! You'll have to balance the rig.

Balance is achieved by removing some material from the Pop-up boilie (this way the Pop-up will sink) or by removing some putty (this way the Pop-up will rise)

Here you'll see some vaiations of the Pop-up rig.

Below, a movie about how a Pop-up reacts under water...

Have Fun !!!
